Part-Time Academic (CUPE Instructors for Nursing) - Fall 2026 Posting Number PTAP3300P Department/Unit Nursing Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The School of Nursing is now accepting applications for multiple CUPE Instructor positions (SIM/Lab Instructors, Tutorial Leads, Clinical Instructors) in the fall term of year 2026 (September 8 – December 4, 2026). Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising a group of BScN students who provide direct client care in clinical settings, work in a clinical skills and simulation lab or tutorial group setting. Tasks include but are not limited to lab demonstrations, marking and proctoring term tests and final examinations as well as evaluating assignments. Access to a computer (no tablet/iPad/phone) with working internet to run Microsoft Teams for online meetings and instruction is required. Clinical Instructors will report to the instructor of record for their course and work under the protection of CUPE Collective Agreement 3912 – Dalhousie University. Weekly 2h labs on Monday mornings (Between Sept. 8 – Nov. 6) N2710 (Population Health Nursing) (Experience in Community / Public Health Nursing preferred) TUTORIAL LEADS: Not to exceed 44 hrs. Weekly 2h tutorials on Wednesdays (Between Sept. 8 – Nov. 6) N2715 (Clinical Integration 1) (Experience in Long term Care preferred) SIMULATION/LAB INSTRUCTORS: Not to exceed 70 hrs (Tuesdays a.m. or p.m.) (Between Sept. 8 – Nov. 6) CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS: 2 week Clinicals: Not to exceed 100 hrs (From Nov. 16 – 27) N2720 (Health and Healing I: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics) (MN-NP preferred) TUTORIAL LEADS: Not to exceed 90 hrs (Between Sept. 8 – Nov. 6) N2725 (Clinical Integration 2) SIMULATION/LAB INSTRUCTORS: Not to exceed 67 hrs (Wednesdays a.m. or p.m. between Sept. 8 – Nov. 6) CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS: 2 week Clinicals: Not to exceed 100 hrs (From Nov. 16 – 27) N2750 (Health and Healing II: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics) (MN-NP preferred) TUTORIAL LEADS: Not to exceed 90 hrs (Between Sept. 8 – Nov. 6) N3725 (Clinical Integration 4) (Experience in Med/Surg and/or Mental Health Nursing preferred) SIMULATION/LAB INSTRUCTORS: Not to exceed 58 hrs (Thursdays a.m. or p.m. between Sept. 8 – 25 and Oct. 26 – Nov. 27) CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS: 3 – 4 week Clinicals in Med/Surg placements (132h – 180h between Sept. 28 – Oct. 23) 1 week Mental Health Clinical (mostly precepted placements) (Not to exceed 60 hrs) (Sept. 28 – Oct. 2 and Oct. 19 – 23) N3730 (Nursing and Persistent Illness) (Experience in Chronic Care Nursing preferred) TUTORIAL LEADS: Not to exceed 22 hrs (1h tutorials on Wednesdays between Sept. 8 – 25 and Oct. 26 – Nov. 27) N4705 (Professional Reasoning and Social Responsibility) (Experience in Community Nursing preferred) TUTORIAL LEADS AND CLINICAL SUPERVISION: Not to exceed 60h, held weekly (between Sept. 8 – Oct. 23) N4715 (Exploratory Nursing Practice) (Focus on Advanced Communication) SIMULATION/LAB INSTRUCTORS: Not to exceed 50 hrs (Fridays a.m. or p.m. between Sept. 8 – Oct. 23) CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS (precepted placements): (Not to exceed 58h, (between Oct. 19 – Nov. 27) GRADUATE COURSES: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Teacher will, under the guidance of faculty member, support instruction and student learning in a graduate‑level Nurse Practitioner program. Key responsibilities include delivering course content through lectures, seminars, and case‑based activities, evaluating student performance, grading assignments and providing timely, constructive feedback and supporting the integration of clinical knowledge through simulation and applied learning. The role also involves mentoring students, participating in curriculum development, collaborating with faculty and clinical partners, and maintaining compliance with academic and accreditation standards. NP Teachers are expected to uphold evidence‑based practice, foster a professional learning environment, and contribute to ongoing program improvement. This position also may involve in person and/ or virtual delivery of course content and student interaction. N5485 (Principles and Theories for NP Practice) (NP degree required, PhD candidate preferred) NP Teacher: (Approx. 65 – 90h between Sept. 8 – Dec. 9, 2026 N5487 (Principles and Theories for Health and Disease Management in Family All Ages NPP) (NP degree required, PhD candidate preferred) NP Teacher: (Approx. 65 – 90h between Sept. 8 – Dec. 9, 2026 N5732 (Pathophysiology for Advanced Nursing Practice) (NP degree required, PhD candidate preferred) NP Teacher: (Approx. 65 – 90h between Sept. 8 – Dec. 9, 2026 N5735 (Pharmacotherapeutics for Nurse Practitioners) (NP degree required, PhD candidate preferred) NP Teacher: (Approx. 65 – 90h between Sept. 8 – Dec. 9, 2026 N5740 (Advanced Health Assessment) (NP degree required, PhD candidate preferred) Lab Assistant(Approx. 64h between Sept. 8 – Dec. 9, 2026 Qualifications/Requirements of Position REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION in BScN program: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, an active RN license with the NSCN, as well as two years of recent clinical experience are required. Clinical teaching experience (which may include preceptorship of staff or students) is essential. Instructors working in the lab are required to participate in SIM training sessions or workshops. Preference will be given to applicants that are available to do SIM/labs and Clinical in the same course.
