Position Summary

  • SOC 100: Introduction to Sociology. This course introduces students to basic sociological concepts, debates, and modes of analysis. Through discussion of issues such as the cultural development of humans, the socialization process and the structures of global society, students will be introduced to the distinctive approach of sociology.   • M.A. in Sociology or a related social science field required; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence to teach the course subject matter.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in university-level teaching. Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional

Salary Range

As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is scheduled to be online at specific class times. Thursdays from 1630-1915. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week. Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date. These academic staff members may then make a written application to the relevant academic unit for upcoming teaching positions without including the entire file. Sessional Lecturers may also provide updated information to the file at any time. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, and the work associated with this position must be performed within Canada.
