Deliver strength-based interventions and psychoeducational programs to support student mental health and well-being. Provide group counselling and direct interventions focusing on emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills for students in grades P-6.
Requires a valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification, a Bachelor of Education in Elementary, and either a degree in Counselling or an M.Ed focused on Social and Emotional Learning. Candidates must have experience teaching grades P-6 and possess WHMIS and First Aid certifications.
Social Emotional Learning Teacher: Required Qualifications and Experience
Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification Bachelor of Education - Elementary Holds a degree in Counselling that is not recognized as meeting qualifications to employed as a School Counsellor in NS; or Teachers with a M.Ed with a focus on Social and Emotional learning. University level courses in special or inclusive education Professional development in Program Support Experience teaching grades P-6 Values working alongside those with diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism. Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
