Tumbler Ridge is a quiet town, even on the busiest of days. The town offers a quick commute to the schools and the ability to walk anywhere you want to go. There are so many things for families to do in the small town, nestled in the mountains. There are plenty of parks all over town, easy hikes for children of all ages and there is even the opportunity to walk where dinosaurs once walked millions of years ago. The Community Centre offers numerous free, and reasonably priced, activities after school and the pool is a great place to visit any time of the year. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, curling along with golfing at our nine-hole course are just a few of the other activities that many families enjoy. The slow-paced lifestyle is one you will grow to appreciate, especially after visiting other busier communities on the weekend. An amount of up to $4,000 of the salary paid to the employee shall be designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit. This allowance shall be in effect within the guidelines of Revenue Canada as they exist and are changed by Revenue Canada from year to year and shall end when the Revenue Canada program ends. Regular part time employees’ allowance will be prorated proportionate to the hours worked</li> <li>Remote and Rural Allowance: Teachers working in School District No. 59 are eligible to receive a remote and rural allowance, which is both an adjustment to the salary grid and an annual allowance of approximately $3,035

Northern Travel Allowance: up to $4,000 of salary designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit (per Revenue Canada guidelines; ends when program ends)
