Job description
- <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Position Description</strong></p> <p>A temporary full time Speech Language Pathologist is required by School District No.
- 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
- The assignment will be at Learning Services.</p> <p>We are dedicated to providing services that assist students to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge required to <strong>successfully participate</strong> in educational experiences.

- Our own department’s mission statement, <strong>“Achieve ~ Believe ~ Connect!” </strong>demonstrates our commitment towards appropriate education and achievements for <strong>all children.</strong> We love the relevance in our logo! </p> <p><strong>Duties</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong></strong>Providing SLP services to students from K-12, with a heavier focus on early years (K-3).</li><li>Eligible for membership as a Speech Language Pathologist which meets the standards established by the College of Heath and Care Professionals of BC</li> <li>Communicate and work collaboratively with other professionals including school-based teams and Learning Services staff</li> <li>Utilizing both formal and informal measures to evaluate a student's abilities in regards to speech, language and communication development.</li> <li>Communicate assessment results to parents/guardians and educators, involving them in decision making around supports</li> <li>Providing support(s) within the Response to Intervention (RTI) tiered model which include classroom education and support, focused group intervention and individual therapies.</li> <li>Create goals for students and oversee implementation of intervention via Speech-Language Assistants and Educational Assistants.</li> <li>Assist in the creation and monitoring of Competency-Based Individualized Education Plan (CB-IEP) goals</li> <li>Provide recommendations for and assist in set up and implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)</li> <li>Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting is maintained for student file</li> <li>Initiate referrals, when necessary, to other district staff, agencies and community professionals in collaboration with the school teams</li> <li>Other related tasks as required </li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications and Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology</li> <li>Eligibility for Speech-Language and Audiology Canada certification or equivalent and College of Health & Care Professionals of BC membership <ul> <li><strong>This program and position are eligible for the BC Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
- Click </strong><a></a><strong> for more information.</strong></li> </ul> </li> <li>Successful experience working with school age children, including children with Autism and developmental delays</li> <li>Ability to work successfully with school teams to provide interventions for students at the Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels of support</li> <li>Willingness to work in a collaborative environment to collectively design interventions for Speech and Language development</li> <li>Experience and knowledge in alternative and augmentative communication systems such as Touch chat, Proloquo2Go, Etc.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing</li> <li>Valid BC driver's license and use of personal vehicle</li> <li>Ability to participate in meetings within and beyond the regular school day to support learning</li> <li>Ability to plan and facilitate in-services or collaboration sessions with educators and educational assistants within and beyond the regular school day</li></ul><ul> </ul> <p> </p><p><strong>Interested applicants are required to supply</strong></p><p> </p><ul> <li><p><strong> </strong>Membership in CHCPBC (or able to apply)</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Three (3) references</p><p><br></br></p> </li></ul><p>
- </p><p> <strong>Compensation</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.</p> </li> <li> <p>$3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)</p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p>Salary as per collective agreement.
- Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952</p> </li> <li> <p>Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
