<p><strong>1.0 FTE Physical Therapist/Physiotherapist</strong></p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p></p> <p>School District 60 (Peace River North) is seeking applications for a <b>temporary</b> <strong>full-time (1.0) Physical Therapist/Physiotherapist</strong>.</p> <p></p> <p>Physiotherapy is a professional health discipline primarily directed toward the prevention and alleviation of movement dysfunction to promote maximal independence for the student in his/her home, school and community.

Physiotherapists provide services to children with orthopaedic, neurological, muscular, spinal, or joint dysfunction.

These services include assistance in physical positioning to promote optimal physical access, assistance in maximizing independence for students who have limited mobility, and prevention and alleviation of movement dysfunction.

The services performed by a physiotherapist in schools may include screening, assessment, consultation, program planning, and assistance in diagnosis, treatment, equipment selection/adaptation, training and research. </p> <p><strong>These services may include</strong><strong>:</strong></p> <ul> <li>screening/assessment; </li> <li>consultation for school staff/families;</li> <li>training of staff to carry out routines such as positioning, seating, feeding or motor activities for optimal maintenance of students in classroom settings during the school day; and </li> <li>monitoring and ongoing evaluation of students in classroom settings related to physical therapy. </li> </ul> <p>Required Qualifications and Experience:</p> <p> </p> <p>Standards of training for physiotherapists are determined by the College of Health & Care Professionals of British Columbia, which has the authority to issue licences to qualified practitioners.

The CPTBC sets standards for entry into the profession, registers physical therapists, sets and enforces a set of rules that registrants must follow and develops programs to promote the highest standards of physical therapy practice.

Registration with the CPTBC is mandatory to work as a physical therapist/physiotherapist in British Columbia.</p> <ul> <li>Eligible for Canadian Physiotherapist Association membership and member of the College of Heath and Care Professionals of British Columbia</li> <li> <ul> <li><strong>This program and position are eligible for the BC Student Loan Forgiveness Program.

Click </strong><a></a><strong> for more information.</strong></li> </ul> </li> <li>Thorough knowledge of PT techniques and procedures in pediatrics acquired through graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution.</li> <li>Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.</li> <li>Ability to work with a variety of physically disabled students in different settings.</li> <li>Pediatric experience desirable.</li> <li>Neuro-Developmental Therapy (NDT) training desirable.</li> </ul> <p>An Ideal Candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Provide competent, supportive, and compassionate approach to service. </li> <li>Be motivated by the success of the school team.</li> <li>Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </li> <li>Be able to establish positive relationships with the school team, student, and their families.</li> <li>Work as part of a dynamic school district team around the needs of students.</li> <li>Have a strong, collaborative approach to therapy.

Up to date on the most relevant techniques and equipment.</li> <li>Be willing to work as a interdisciplinary team, including Children and Youth with Special Needs (CYSN), Northern Health, BCCH, Sunnyhill, and other health related agencies.</li> <li>Pursues ongoing professional development and involved in related professional affiliations.</li> <li>Have an understanding of a school environment, and a willingness to learn about education policies, processes, and procedures.</li> </ul> <p> <strong>Compensation</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.</p> </li> <li> <p>$3,500 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)</p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p>Salary as per collective agreement.

Current salary grid is $72,720 - $118,770</p> </li> <li> <p>Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
