  • <p><strong> </strong></p><p><b>ATTENTION PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES</b></p><p><b>$10,000 SIGNING BONUS AVAILABLE (see compensation for more information)</b></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Position Description</strong></p> <p>A temporary full time (1.0) Intermediate Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The assignment will be at Wonowon Elementary School.<br></br> </p> <p>Wonowon is a rural elementary school located at mile 101 of the historic Alaska Highway, 85 km north of Fort St John. The school has five teachers, one of whom acts as head teacher. Wonowon Elementary receives district library and administrative support. Wonowon has a student population of 83, many of whom are of Russian-German background. The school currently has three classrooms, a portable, a gym, and outdoor play area -<strong>Wonowon has a brand new school building for 2026-2027! </strong> See www.wonowon.prn.bc.ca for more information</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Qualifications and Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)</li> <li>Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level</li> <li>Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills</li> <li>Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging</li> <li>Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn</li> <li>Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition</li> <li>Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning</li> <li>Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity</li> <li>Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity</li><li>Willingness to work in a remote rural setting</li><li>Willingness to work outdoors in winter months</li><li>Experience working with English Language Learners (ELL)</li><li>Willingness to develop individualized and group instruction, utilizing a variety of strategies and techniques, i.e. differentiated instruction, Project Based Learning (PBL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL)</li><li>Willingness to communicate and develop trusting relations with students, staff and community</li><li>Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an asset</li><li>Strong computer elated skills and an ability to integrate technology into the learning environment</li><li>Commitment to continuous professional learning</li><li>Need to have a drivers license and vehicle</li><li>Experience with winter driving would be an asset<br></br></li></ul> <p> </p> <p> <strong>Interested applicants are required to supply</strong></p> <ul> <li>Three (3) references</li> <li>Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Remuneration</strong><strong> Package: Recognizing your value and contribution</strong></p> <ul> <li>$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas</li> <li>$3,500 recruitment allowance </li> <li>Fully covered premiums: Your benefits, our investment for full time employees.
