Aug 16-25, 2026 About Lionheart Camp Lionheart is an overnight camp in Muskoka, Canada that is intentionally designed for children with disabilities and complex medical needs.
Position Summary
The Overnight Camp Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to campers and staff in an overnight camp setting. This role includes medication administration, health assessments, illness and injury management, and collaboration with camp leadership to ensure a safe, healthy camp environment. The nurse works primarily from the camp infirmary and is on-call during assigned hours. Position may require some night shifts throughout the summer season. Key Responsibilities Administer scheduled and PRN medications in accordance with physician orders and camp policies Conduct health assessments and provide nursing interventions for illness, injury, and behavioral/medical concerns Maintain accurate medical records, including medication logs and treatment notes Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care with EMS or external healthcare providers as needed Provide overnight on-call coverage and respond to camper or staff health concerns after hours Monitor campers with chronic conditions, medical needs, or behavioral support plans Communicate health concerns with parents/guardians and healthcare providers as appropriate Collaborate with counselors and leadership to support camper well-being Ensure infection prevention, first aid supplies, and infirmary organization Follow all camp policies, Ontario nursing regulations, and scope of practice
Qualifications
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) licensed to work in Ontario (CNO Registration) Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience in pediatrics, community health, emergency nursing, or camp nursing preferred Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments Strong communication and documentation skills Comfortable working overnight and in an overnight camp environment
