Job description

At Stenberg College, we are committed to educating compassionate professionals who make a meaningful difference in their communities. We are currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Health Care Assistant (HCA) program team as a Lead Lab Instructor.

  • Reporting to the Manager of Lab and Simulation, the Lead Lab Instructor plays a key role in delivering high-quality, student-centered lab and simulation learning experiences. This position is ideal for a healthcare professional who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and supporting student success in a hands-on learning environment.
  • Employment Type: Part-time, Contract
  • Location: Kamloops, BC
  • Compensation: $35/hour (entry-level rate)
  • Start Date: August 10 - September 11, 2026
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am-1pm

What You Will Do

  • Instruction & Student Support
  • Deliver engaging lab and simulation sessions aligned with course outcomes and industry standards
  • Demonstrate clinical procedures using approved checklists and current best practices
  • Support student learning through feedback, coaching, and skill development
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
  • Lab Preparation & Coordination
  • Collaborate with internal teams to review course materials, lab schedules, and learning outcomes
  • Coordinate with Lab Assistants to prepare for lab sessions and ensure proper setup
  • Maintain lab organization and adhere to safety and operational guidelines
  • Testing & Evaluation
  • Plan and coordinate lab testing schedules and logistics
  • Lead and oversee lab testing sessions, including briefing and debriefing testers and students
  • Evaluate student performance using standardized assessment tools
  • Address student feedback and appeals in accordance with academic policies
  • Administrative Duties
  • Maintain accurate attendance, student records, and evaluation documentation
  • Communicate student progress and outcomes with internal stakeholders
  • Participate in faculty meetings, evaluations, and campus events
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and program development

Who You Are

  • You are a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and have current full registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Minimum 2 years of recent, relevant clinical experience, preferably in:
  • Geriatric care and/or complex care
  • Home support or multi-level care settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current clinical practices and standards
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate adult learners
  • Experience in teaching or curriculum delivery is an asset
