Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support simulation-based learning activities within our Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (RDPN) program in Kelowna. This short-term contract role is ideal for a clinically strong RN who is passionate about nursing education and enjoys working with learners in a hands-on, simulation lab environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in guiding students through realistic clinical scenarios, supporting skill development, and contributing to a high-quality, engaging learning experience that bridges theory and practice.

About the Program

For the past 19 years, Stenberg College has been an industry leader in providing psychiatric nursing education in British Columbia.

The RDPN program is the only psychiatric nursing program in B.C. that is offered province-wide to 7 regions through a hybrid, blended delivery, 8-semester, 147-credit program. Students engage in synchronous and asynchronous learning through online theory courses, complete in-person lab simulation at one of our five regional lab spaces, and in-person clinical practice experiences that expose students to a variety of health status, across the life span, and with varying complexity.

Position Details

  • Location: Kelowna, BC
  • Employment Type: Part Time, Contract
  • Schedule: Total of 30 hours during the week of July 20-26, 2026 - any three (consecutive) days at 10 hours/day or four days at 7.5 hours/day
  • Compensation: $60-$65 per hour based on experience

What You Will Do

  • Support and facilitate simulation lab learning activities
  • Guide students through clinical scenarios in a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Provide real-time feedback to learners to strengthen clinical judgment, critical thinking, and nursing skills
  • Assist in preparing and setting up simulation scenarios and lab materials as required
  • Evaluate and document student performance based on established learning outcomes and competencies
  • Collaborate with faculty and simulation staff to ensure smooth delivery of lab activities
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive learning environment aligned with best practices in nursing education
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and simulation lab protocols during all activities

Who You Are

  • The candidates will require the following.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active practicing registration in good standing with the BCCNM
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing (completed or in progress) preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience since completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Simulation lab experience considered an asset
  • Previous leadership and/or educator experience is considered an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an educational and healthcare environment
  • Strong understanding of various software applications and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams communication platform
