The anesthesia assistant trainee provides technical support and clinical assistance to the anaesthesiologist during the induction, maintenance, and recovery phases of anesthesia, including monitoring physiological responses and maintaining/Operating related equipment. Responsibilities also involve assisting with patient preparation, pre/Post-Operative assessments, administering prescribed agents under direction, and participating in intraoperative crisis response.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited respiratory therapy program, successfully completed the canadian board of respiratory care credentialing exam, and be eligible for membership with relevant csrt and bcsrt bodies. Applicants must also be acute respiratory therapists, complete one year of classroom theory and clinical practice, and commit to a return of service upon program completion.
