</li><li>be committed to being an advocate for students; </li><li>possess outstanding skills in building student rapport; </li><li>provide a significant collaborative leadership role; </li><li>model and support the development of 21st century literacies (including digital and information); </li><li>provide coaching and mentoring for wise and effective instructional and assessment practices; </li><li>develop, evaluate and expand innovative District resources and online Destiny library system </li><li>be able and willing to work in a technologically rich education environment; </li><li>use research-based reading and writing instructional and assessment strategies; </li><li>Provide targeted, small group reading intervention for students requiring additional support</li><li>incorporate technology information literacy skills into the library program; </li><li>select and obtain resources, both print and electronic, onsite and remote access; </li><li>be familiar with copyright and site licensing; </li><li>be willing to display a high level of communication, flexibility and collaboration; </li><li>strong skills as a problem solver; </li><li>strong skills in conflict resolution; </li><li>deal meaningfully with differentiated student learning styles and demonstrate an ability to address individual student needs; </li><li>commit to the District's and school's goals to improve the success of First Nations students; </li><li>be physically capable of performing the duties of this position. </li></ul> <p><strong>Essential Qualifications</strong>:</p><ul><li>BC Certified and qualified with a Master's Degree/Diploma in Teacher-Librarianship;</li><li>Valid Class 5 BC driver's license.</li><li>Successful experience in supporting individual student learning in a multi-grade classroom. </li></ul> <p><strong><u>Literacy </u></strong><strong><u>Support Role (This is 0.50 FTE)</u></strong></p><p><strong>T</strong><strong>he successful candidate will</strong>: </p><ul><li>commit to supporting the school's goal to improve student literacy, and be familiar with and knowledgeable about current Literacy practices, including reading intervention strategies, assessment and evaluation techniques, best practices, and curriculum surrounding literacy; </li><li>through collaboration and co-facilitation, support classroom teachers and school teams to identify the needs of students, set learning targets, and enhance best practices to ensure the continued growth of identified students in the area of reading</li><li>support the collection of assessment data and build understanding about how to utilize this data to plan for reading instruction;</li><li>provide daily direct instruction and literacy intervention for identified students in 1-to-1 and small group settings using evidence-based practices, instructional data, and professional knowledge;</li><li>Meet regularly with teachers to collaboratively plan classroom literacy instruction that correlates with the needs of identified students;</li><li>Support Instructional Services with other duties and initiatives as required.</li></ul> <p><strong>Essential Qualifications</strong>:</p><ul><li>Bachelor of Education degree with successful teaching experience at the elementary level;</li><li>A Master's degree would be an asset;</li><li>Background and training in literacy, reading instruction, and literacy intervention;</li><li>Experience teaching students in K-7 that reflects a commitment to innovative and inclusive instruction, and assessment practices;</li><li>Ability to effectively work independently with general direction.</li></ul> <p><strong>For more information, please contact the H</strong><strong>uman Resources - </strong><strong> </strong><a></a></p>
