This position reports to the supervisor of Transportation and assists the Bus Driver in loading, unloading, supervising and monitoring students with special needs.
Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and/or guaranteed hours. POSTING DETAILS <ul> <li>Position – Bus Monitor</li> <li>Start Date - As soon as possible (flexible)</li> <li>Schedule - Casual / On Call As Needed (shifts vary - before school, after school, and/or during special field trips) </li> </ul> DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES <ul> <li>Supervises and monitors students with special needs while enroute to school and home.</li> <li>Assists Bus Driver in loading, securing and unloading the students.</li> <li>Administers First Aid as required.</li> <li>Relays information between parents and teachers.</li> <li>Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification. </li> </ul> REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS <ul> <li>Grade 10.</li> <li>First Aid Certificate (1 day Emergency First Aid with CPR or equivalent).</li> <li>Ability to interact with students in an effective manner.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively using tact and discretion in the explanation and clarification of information.</li> <li>Ability to use judgement in applying established methods and procedures.</li> <li>Physical ability to perform the required duties.</li> </ul> For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included: <ul> <li>Resume </li> <li>Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, former supervisors from your most recent/relevant role)</li> <li>Proof of completion of Grade 10 / graduation from high school (or completion of other post-secondary education)</li> <li>Valid/Current first aid certification (proof of registration for the course can serve as a placeholder for your application; however, you need to complete the course prior to beginning work in the district)</li> </ul> PLEASE NOTEIn accordance with the Criminal Record Review Act, successful applicants will be required to consent to a Criminal Record Check prior to employment. <div>We thank you for your interest in the Langley School District however, only those persons</div><div>selected for interviews will be contacted.</div>
