  • Reporting to an administrator or case manager, successful applicants provide guidance, ongoing assistance, encouragement and support to students in developing and achieving appropriate behavioral, personal and life skills goals.
  • Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and/or guaranteed hours.</p> <p><strong>POSTING DETAILS</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Position - </strong>Youth Care Worker</li> <li><strong>Schedule - </strong>Casual / On Call (hours vary)</li> <li><strong>Location(s)</strong> - Varied</li> </ul> <p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Grade 12 graduation </li> <li>Completion of a two-year Child & Youth Care Worker diploma program (or an equivalent combination of training and education)</li> <li>One to two years’ related experience working with families, individuals and with groups.</li> <li>Valid BC's driver's License.</li> <li>First Aid Certificate</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively using tact, diplomacy and persuasion in frequent contacts of a difficult, specialized or sensitive nature.</li> <li>Ability to be flexible to meet the varying academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs of students.</li> <li>Working knowledge of computers</li> <li>Physical ability to perform the required duties</li> </ul> <p><strong>For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Resume and cover letter </li> <li>Certification as a Youth Care Worker</li> <li>Copy of your transcript (official or unofficial) from your YCW program</li> <li>Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, former supervisors from your most recent/relevant role)</li> <li>Scanned copy of your valid BC Driver’s license </li> <li>Clear driver’s abstract/history (can be obtained from ICBC) </li> <li>Proof of high school graduation (or completion of other post-secondary education)</li> <li>Valid/Current first aid certification (proof of registration for the course can serve as a placeholder for your application; however, you need to complete the course prior to beginning work in the district)</li> </ul> <p>For applicants who are in the process of completing their program, some of the above documents may be 'pending' at the time of submission; however, the application will still be considered.
