  • Liaise with Learning Services personnel and outside agencies in support of students and families

Requirements summary

  • Master’s degree in counselling.
  • Successful elementary or secondary level teaching experience.
  • Experience using strength-based, trauma-informed approaches and a UDL framework.

  • The purpose of this program is to provide a safe environment for kids not able to attend their home school or program for a short period of time (suspension, VTRA, Etc.) to:</p><ol><li>Stay connected to their school and the District</li><li>Work on academics provided by the home school </li><li>Engage in learning and skill building targeted at the reasons they are not able to attend their home school or program (anger management, substance use, etc.)<br></br></li></ol><p>The Secondary Counsellor uses strength-based and trauma informed approaches and a universal design framework to support students enrolled in Delta secondary schools.</p><p>The Secondary Counsellor provides intervention and prevention services; focusing on enhancing students’ development, health promotion, building inclusive, trauma informed and enabling school cultures, and empowering students toward positive change.
  • The Secondary Counsellor promotes personal and social development appropriate to developmental stages, counsel's students, their families, and the community to foster growth in the students' self- esteem, individual responsibility, and in skills such as decision making and social skills.
