Overview
Create and run the Alternate to Suspension Program. Provide a safe environment for students unable to attend their home school/program for a short period (e.g., suspension, VTRA). Help students stay connected to their school and the District. Support students with academics provided by the home school. Deliver learning and skill building targeted to reasons students cannot attend (e.g., anger management, substance use). Use strength-based and trauma-informed approaches and a UDL framework to support Delta secondary students. Provide intervention and prevention services to enhance student development and health promotion. Build inclusive, trauma-informed, enabling school cultures and empower students toward positive change. Promote personal and social development appropriate to developmental stages. Counsel students, families, and the community to foster self-esteem, individual responsibility, decision-making, and social skills. Promote equity by identifying and ameliorating environmental and personal barriers to student success. Assist with development and implementation of educational plans including IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans. Play a key role in successful student transitions. Liaise with Learning Services personnel and outside agencies in support of students and families
