Part-Time Academic (SLWK 6540: Critical Approaches to Mental Health and Addiction in Social Work Practice) - Winter 2027 Posting Number PTAP3341P Department/Unit Social Work Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: SLWK 6540 “Critical Approaches to Mental Health and Addiction in Social Work Practice”. The course will be offered in the Winter term, from January to April 2027. Classes will be held Tuesdays from11:35-14:25.

- Course description: This course will provide a critical approach to understanding mental health and addictions and the development of critical frameworks for social work practice and programming in these areas. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures, grading of assignments, and consultation with students. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery. Qualifications/Requirements of Position Experience and advanced skill set in social work practice within mental health and addiction settings. A Master of Social Work degree, or higher, and previous teaching experience. Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
