Part-Time Academic (SLWK 5003: Critical Clinical Practice Foundations for Social Work Intervention) - Fall 2026 Posting Number PTAP3336P Department/Unit Social Work Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: SLWK 5003, “Critical Clinical Practice Foundations for Social Work Intervention”. The course will be offered in the Fall term, from September-December 2026. Classes will be held Tuesdays from 14:35-17:25.

- Course description: This course will develop a foundation for critical clinical practice within the context of social work values, ethics, theory, and analysis. It will apply a critical clinical approach to the understanding and provision of direct social work practice intervention. Through a social justice lens a range of practices approaches and practice skills are explored. Students will learn how to apply a critical clinical social work practice framework through integrating experiential learning with critical practice theory. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures, grading of assignments, and consultation with students. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery. Qualifications/Requirements of Position A Master of Social Work degree, or higher, and previous teaching experience is preferred. As this is a practice course a knowledge base in weaving social work practice skills with theory and policy is also required. Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
