The clinician applies specialized knowledge to provide advanced assessment and develop care plans for patients experiencing skin, wound, incontinence, and ostomy issues in collaboration with the patient and team. This role involves supporting a culture of prevention, utilizing advanced wound care products, and educating patients and staff on best practices for management and troubleshooting.
A baccalaureate level nursing degree and current registered nurse certification in ontario are required, along with completion of a recognized enterostomal therapy nursing education program and recognition through the canadian association of enterostomal therapy. Candidates must possess 3-5 years of recent experience in managing complex wounds, abdominal fistulae, and stomas, preferably in pediatric, neonatal, or adult nursing settings.
