  • <p><strong></strong></p> <p> The Vancouver Board of Education welcomes applications for:</p> <p>ON-CALL CUSTODIAN</p> <p> <strong>Hourly Rate: </strong> $27.55 (plus 16% in lieu of benefits)</p> <p><strong>Shifts During the school year </strong>- (September to June) Monday to Friday shifts are generally from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm or from 3:00 pm to 11:00pm </p> <p> <strong>During the Summer and Winter break</strong> - shifts are generally from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm</p> <p><strong>Only applicants who are fully qualified will be considered for this position</strong></p> <p>With deep gratitude and respect, we are honoured to be learning and unlearning on the ancestral and unceded lands of the xmθkym (Musqueam), Swxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and slilwta (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).</p> <p>At the VSB, we are proud to provide exceptional learning experiences for students.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, and as a team member, are essential.
  • Although this position is On-Call, it is busy and there are regular assignments available throughout the year.</p> <ul> </ul> <p><strong>Required qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Completion of Grade 12</li> <li>Building Service Worker Certificate (we prefer one the following schools: Burnaby Continuing Education, Vancouver Community College and/or Delta Continuing Education), and 2+ years of experience in custodial/janitor work</li> <li>Must be flexible and accept assignments on short notice</li> </ul> <p><strong>Your application must include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Cover letter</li> <li>Resume</li> <li>Two References - Your current Manager and 1 more most recent direct supervisor.

  • We do not accept family, friends or coworkers as references</li> <li>A copy of your Work Permit or PR Card (if you are not a Canadian Citizen)</li> </ul> <p><strong>For Permanent Positions:</strong></p> <p>We are seeking On-Call custodians with a 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or a recognized Power Engineering Program Certificate.
  • All permanent positions include a comprehensive benefits package (extended health, dental and municipal pension plan).
  • If hired, you would have access to apply to the following permanent postings:</p> <ul> <li>Assistant Head Custodian (AHC)</li> <li>Head Custodian (HC)</li> <li>Assistant Building Engineer 1 (ABE1)</li> </ul> <p>A 5th class Power Engineering Certificate qualifies you for all of the above positions.
  • A minimum of a 5th class Power Engineering Program meets the qualifications for the AHC and HC.
