  • <p><strong>Exciting career opportunity with a growing School District!</strong></p> <p><strong>School Meals Program Coordinators On-Call</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>If you enjoy working with school-aged children and only want to work part-time, working as a School Meals Program Coordinator at SD62 could be what you are looking for.
  • School Meals Program Coordinators play a vital role in the lives of children at our schools by assisting to provide lunches during their lunch time.
  • Assignments are one hour a day working at either an</strong></p> <p><strong>Elementary (Grades K-5) or Middle (Grades 6-8) School. </strong></p> <p><strong>About the District….</strong></p> Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, School District No.
  • 62 (Sooke) is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in BC.
  • The District operates in five municipalities: Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, Sooke and the Highlands and acknowledges the traditional territories of the Coast Salish: T’Sou-ke Nation and Scia’new Nation and Nuu-chah-nulth: Pacheedaht Nation.

  • The District employs over 2,000 educators and support staff and serves over 13,000 students The District’s Strategic Plan looks ahead to the future and focuses on three priority areas: learning, engagement and growth. <p><strong>What we offer…</strong></p> <ul> <li>A starting wage of $27.25 per hour, five hours per week, 10 months per year (September 1 to June 30)</li> <li>Opportunities for other positions at the District such as custodial, noon-hour or bus supervision assistant, crossing guards and more…<br></br> <p>Once you are permanent you will get:</p> </li> <li>Paid vacation during Winter and Spring Break (as per the CUPE Local 459 Collective Agreement)</li> <li>Two (2) Professional Developments days and one (1) self-directed professional development day per school year plus access to additional funds for further professional development such as course fees</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you need to apply...</strong></p> <p>As a School Meals Program Coordinator, we are looking for candidates that have a passion for working with children and demonstrate patience and understanding to support a welcoming and safe environment for children.
  • They will assist in the distribution of lunches for the lunch program.
  • Candidates should also have the following education and experience:</p> <ul> <li>Secondary school graduation</li> <li>Up to three months of related experience working with school-aged children</li> <li>Holds (or willing to get) a valid FoodSafe Level 1 Certificate</li> <li>Willing to authorize the completion of a required Criminal Record Check<br></br> </li> </ul> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Completion of secondary school, coupled with successful completion of the Foodsafe Basic Level Course or be willing to undertake the course and have some related experience. <p> </p> </li> <li>A demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. <p> </p> </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with young students, teachers and other adults. <p> </p> </li> <li>An ability to keep a simple set of books. <p> </p> </li> <li>Appreciation of the confidential nature of all information relating to students, parents and teachers.</li> </ol> <p> </p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBLE TO:</strong><strong> </strong>School Administrative Officers and Community LINK Coordinator</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>SUPERVISES:</strong> N/A</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>JOB</strong><strong> GOAL:</strong> To provide a well organized, smoothly functioning school lunch program.</p> <p><strong> </strong></p> Performance Responsibilities: <p> </p> <ol> <li>Provides feedback on upcoming menus to the caterer and administration on a regular basis. <p> </p> </li> <li>Ensures menus are printed and distributed to all students. <p> </p> </li> <li>Oversees the collection of monies from the students and balances with receipts. <p> </p> </li> <li>Determines the monthly parental contributions, based on a set per meal amount, and prepares monthly consent forms for distribution to students. <p> </p> </li> <li>Keeps track of lunch program participants. <p> </p> </li> <li>Assists in duties relating to the supervision of students. <p> </p> </li> <li>Helps with the meal service and clean up of the serving area after each meal. <p> </p> </li> <li>Monitors the amount of food consumed as well as the students likes and dislikes. <p> </p> </li> <li>Ensures the correct number of servings required is communicated to the caterer for ordering.<br></br> <br></br> </li> <li> Reports the progress of the program to the administrator and Community LINK Coordinator and prepares input for the year-end report for the Ministry.</li> </ol> <p><strong>How to apply…</strong></p> <ul> <li>Go to <a></a></li> <li>Click BC Regions and select Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast </li> <li>Click Sooke 62 under K-12 Employers</li> <li>Click on the Job Posting and submit your application</li> </ul> <p>School District No.
