Preferred Skills & Qualifications Education

High School Diploma (required).

Preferred

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level 1, Education Assistant Certificate, or Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma. Additional training or certification in behavioral support, special education, or child development is an asset.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year experience working with children with developmental delays, special needs, or behavioral challenges (e.g., Autism, ADHD, ODD). Experience in early childhood education, daycare, or inclusive learning environments. Familiarity with positive behavior support strategies and developmental milestones.
• Key
• Skills: Strong patience, empathy, and understanding in working with children with diverse needs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with children, educators, and families. Ability to adapt, take initiative, and follow structured routines. Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills. Capacity to handle physical demands, including assisting with lifting children (up to 40 lbs). Ability to take constructive feedback and implement strategies to improve support. Additional Requirements Current First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months). Successful completion of training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (preferred but not required).
