Requirements summary

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for).
French fluency (written and oral) and willingness to complete French fluency assessment.
Willingness to have an interview in French with the District's French Language Coordinator.
Practicum work and experience teaching in French or French Immersion at the intermediate level.
Knowledge of balanced literacy program including guided reading and assessment.
Ability to teach identified subjects at the elementary level.
Experience with universal design and differentiation.
Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organization skills.
Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.
Belief in inclusion and potential of all students.
Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan short-term and long-term.
Demonstrated use of proactive classroom management and assessment practices that maintain student dignity.
Experience and/or course work teaching at least one Fine Arts strand.
Ability to integrate computer technology into learning environment.

Job description

Position Description A temporary full time (1.0) French Immersion Primary Teacher is required by School District No.
60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
The assignment will be at Ecole Central Elementary School. Ecole Central Elementary School of the Arts is a K-6, Fine Arts French Immersion school located in the heart of downtown Fort St.
John, in the beautiful Peace River Valley.
We offer an early French immersion program, which begins in kindergarten.
Fourteen percent of our students are of First Nations ancestry.
Our school has a staffing compliment of 15 teachers and 8 support workers as well a principal, and .3 vice principal, reading support teacher and a .4 librarian.
Our school enjoys itinerant access to a range of services. École Central Elementary School is a Fine Arts school and staff appointments will reflect the specific classroom needs and the Fine Arts Programme needs.

Current salary grid is $72,720 - $118,770</li> <li>Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
