Part-Time Academic (POLI 3546.03: Social Media and Politics) - Fall 2026 Posting Number PTAP3388P Department/Unit Political Science Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities This part-time academic will be required to teach POLI 3546.03, Social Media and Politics during Fall Term 2026: September-December 2026, currently scheduled in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:35 AM-9:55 AM. Course description: This course will examine the origins, features and dynamics that characterize the relationship between politics and social media, paying particular attention to the following topics: political communication theories and social media; digital democracy; political campaigns and social media, revolutions and social media; international organization and social media; the ethics of social media in politics. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures and test preparation. The position reports to the Chair of the Department. Qualifications/Requirements of Position Preference will be given to applicants with a PhD, or nearly completed PhD, in Political Science and a strong knowledge of the topic. Previous university-level teaching on this topic will be an asset. Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
