Position Title
Part-Time Academic (HIST 2335.03 Modern American Culture – Fall 2026) Posting Number PTAP3358P Department/Unit History Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities A part-time academic is required to teach HIST 2335.03 Modern American Culture in the Fall 2026 Term (1 September to 31 December, 2026). The classes are currently scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1135-1255. Resistance to American systems of repression and control is not just a matter of politics, it manifests as a distinct culture as well. In this class, we will investigate the stylizing of resistance in modern American history, especially as it was presented through different racial, gender, and sexual forms of expression. The part-time academic is responsible for all aspects of teaching, grading and administration of the classes. In addition, the part-time academic is to be available for two hours per week outside of class time for student consultation. The part-time academic reports to the Chair of the History Department. Qualifications/Requirements of Position Candidates must possess a PhD in History or a related field. Additional experience teaching US history of gender and sexuality and/or US history of race will be reviewed favourably. All offers of employment as a part-time academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University. Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
