Position Title

Part-Time Academic (HIST 3050.30 Europe and World War II – Fall 2026 Posting Number PTAP3359P Department/Unit History Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities A part-time academic is required to teach HIST 3050.30 Europe and World War II in the Fall 2026 Term (1 September to 31 December, 2026). Selected topics on the origins, conflict and aftermath of the Second World War as this involved Europe, including Nazi foreign and occupation policies, strategic and political decision-making by the Allied and Axis powers, national resistance movements, and the wartime origins of the Cold War. The classes are currently scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1135-1255. The part-time academic is responsible for all aspects of teaching, grading and administration of the classes. In addition, the part-time academic is to be available for two hours per week outside of class time for student consultation. The part-time academic reports to the Chair of the History Department. Qualifications/Requirements of Position Candidates must possess a PhD in History or a related field. Additional experience teaching the history of World War II and modern Europe will be reviewed favourably. All offers of employment as a part-time academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University. Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
