Job Summary Dalhousie School of Nursing graduate programs prepare practitioners, professional practice leaders, and nurse scientists. Nursing is a practice-based discipline and several of our graduate program entail clinical placements and preceptorship. Reporting to the Director, School of Nursing, the Clinical Placement Coordinator – Graduate Programs occupies a key position within the School of Nursing, assuming responsibility for planning, negotiation, delivery and evaluation of clinical learning experiences in the Masters of Nursing programs. Key Responsibilities Formulate criteria for clinical sites in all semesters that will allow students to achieve the set objectives in a safe manner under appropriate supervision. Assess clinical sites to ensure compliance with criteria. Project the number of placements required for each clinical experience for each course on an annual basis and negotiate appropriate clinical placements for students in all semesters. Develop comprehensive protocol for assigning students to clinical learning experiences. Arrange for new clinical sites as required. Ensure contracts and affiliation agreements with interest holders, clinical and community partners are processed and current, updating as needed. Recruit and retain of clinical preceptors. Develop and deliver education materials and provide ongoing educational support for clinical preceptors through information sessions and orientation packages. Liaise with other health professionals involved in clinical education. Develop, carry out and analyze needs assessments from stakeholders and partners. Collect, compile, analyze and disseminate feedback on the operation and effectiveness of clinical experiences. Note The successful applicant may work in-person on campus, primarily remotely (from within Nova Scotia with occasional presence in-person on-campus), or perform a hybrid of the two as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements. Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree in health or education plus a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in clinical placement coordination (or an equivalent combination of training and experience). Excellent organizational and time management skills in high volume and interdisciplinary settings with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Strong communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with various stakeholders. Familiarity with regulatory and competency-based education and entry to practice skills required for nursing. Commitment to continuous learning, including maintaining knowledge of clinical practice and current issues in the nursing profession. Outstanding computer and data management skills, including proven ability to learn new software and the ability to use MS Office Word and Excel. Assets Undergraduate degree in Nursing. Experience with HSPnet, One45, Banner and/or Brightspace systems.
