Position Title

Part-Time Academic (MUSC 2025.03 Guitar History & Techniques 2) - Winter 2027 Posting Number PTAP3346P Department/Unit Fountain School of Performing Arts Location Job Summary & Key Responsibilities This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of one section of MUSC 2025.03: Guitar History and Techniques 2, from January 1 to April 30, 2027 (Winter Term 2027). A continuation of MUSC 2024, this class includes an examination of various music styles and performers related to the guitar. Practical guitar instruction will include advanced chord playing, music reading (all six strings) and melody playing. Theory will include theoretical understanding of various music scales and chord theory. The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures, marking student assignments, developing course content on Brightspace, and submitting grades. In addition to course time, the instructor is required to hold office hours for student consultations. The instructor is expected to announce the end-of-term student ratings/evaluations of instruction. This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts. All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University. Qualifications/Requirements of Position Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Music; proven experience in the teaching of guitar – university teaching experience preferred; significant knowledge of guitar history and repertoire; computer literacy.Please apply online, with a copy of your curriculum vitae and a cover letter.
