A valid Interim or Permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate is required, along with experience working with young children. Knowledge of play-based, Montessori, or Reggio-inspired approaches is preferred.
Overview Fueling Brains Education Services is launching a new, Alberta Education - approved Kindergarten program across multiple Academy locations in Calgary.
This is not a traditional classroom.
Our model blends brain-based learning, small-group instruction, and whole-child development to create an environment where teachers can focus on what matters most - teaching, connecting, and making a meaningful impact.

This role offers a different way to teach.
You will deliver Alberta’s Kindergarten curriculum within a unique, research-informed environment focused on executive function development (how children learn, not just what they learn).
Please note that opportunities at our Braeside and Centennial locations are currently offered as 0.5 FTE (part-time) positions.
1. Instructional Delivery Deliver Kindergarten programming aligned with the Alberta Education Curriculum and Program of Studies Facilitate learning through a combination of structured instruction and play-based, experiential approaches Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles and developmental needs Lead small-group instruction (typically 8–16 students), enabling deeper engagement and differentiation
2. Student Development & Assessment Monitor and assess student progress through formal and informal methods Develop and implement Individual Program Plans (IPPs) where required Create meaningful learning documentation (e.g., learning stories, progress reports) Prepare and deliver report cards and participate in parent-teacher interviews
3. Classroom Environment & Student Well-being Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development Promote independence, confidence, and leadership among students
4. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including educators, assistants, and specialists Build strong relationships with families and maintain ongoing communication Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development
support the broader Academy environment outside core Kindergarten hours Work collaboratively across learning environments (Left Brain, Right Brain, Movement) Contribute to a seamless experience for children across the day
Required Skills and Qualifications: Education Valid Interim or Permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate (required)
Experience Experience working with early learners (Kindergarten, preschool, or childcare settings preferred) Experience with play-based, inquiry-based, or child-centered learning environments is an asset
Key Skills Strong classroom management with a child-centered approach Ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Collaborative mindset with a team-oriented approach Passion for early childhood development and whole-child learning Familiarity with early childhood pedagogies (e.g. Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or similar approaches) is considered an asset
Work Environment Requirements Classroom-based role within Fueling Brains Academy locations Small-group teaching model (8–16 students per class) Structured Kindergarten hours (morning program), with optional extended responsibilities for full-time roles Active, hands-on environment involving movement and interaction with young children
Additional Requirements Police check (Vulnerable Sector) prior to employment First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to work a 10-month contract (September–June), aligned with the Kindergarten program calendar Willingness to participate in onboarding and training related to Fueling Brains’ instructional model
