Core responsibilities

  • Share indigenous knowledge, teachings, and perspectives through programming, interpretation, and events.
  • Build relationships with indigenous communities and partners.
  • Guide visitors and staff in understanding indigenous histories and realities.
  • Create opportunities for indigenous voices to be heard and celebrated.
  • Interpret métis history and culture in designated exhibits and outdoor areas.
  • Relay historical information using interpretive techniques and demonstrations.
  • Ensure proper care of artefacts and operate exhibits safely.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and safe workplace environment

Requirements summary

  • Lived experience as part of a métis community.
  • Secondary school education or equivalent, post-Secondary preferred.
  • Experience in customer service, interpretation, or museum education preferred.
  • Knowledge of métis region 3 history, culture, language, and traditional activities.
  • Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in variable weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays
