Core responsibilities
- Share indigenous knowledge, teachings, and perspectives through programming, interpretation, and events.
- Build relationships with indigenous communities and partners.
- Guide visitors and staff in understanding indigenous histories and realities.
- Create opportunities for indigenous voices to be heard and celebrated.
- Interpret métis history and culture in designated exhibits and outdoor areas.
- Relay historical information using interpretive techniques and demonstrations.
- Ensure proper care of artefacts and operate exhibits safely.
- Contribute to an inclusive and safe workplace environment
Requirements summary
- Lived experience as part of a métis community.
- Secondary school education or equivalent, post-Secondary preferred.
- Experience in customer service, interpretation, or museum education preferred.
- Knowledge of métis region 3 history, culture, language, and traditional activities.
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and in variable weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays
