We invite applications for a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to teach Older Adult / Gerontological Nursing within our Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (RDPN) program. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise in gerontological nursing, academic rigor, and a commitment to excellence in post-secondary education and student success.
About the Program
For the past 19 years, Stenberg College has been an industry leader in providing psychiatric nursing education in British Columbia.
- The RDPN program is the only psychiatric nursing program in B.C. that is offered province-wide to 7 regions through a hybrid, blended delivery, 8-semester, 147-credit program. Students engage in synchronous and asynchronous learning through online theory courses, complete in-person lab simulation at one of our five regional lab spaces, and in-person clinical practice experiences that expose students to a variety of health status, across the life span, and with varying complexity.
- Position Type: Part-time / Contract
- Mode of Delivery: Online Theory Instruction
- Schedule: 8hr per week, plus flex and preparation time
- Compensation:
- $48 per hour for online instructional delivery
- Orientation and administrative responsibilities are remunerated at a separate rate
Who You Are
- The candidates will require the following.
- Current registration and good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN)
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience, with a focus on older adult and/or gerontological nursing
- Master’s degree in nursing or a related discipline (advanced educational credentials in gerontology strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated experience teaching Older Adult or Gerontological Nursing at a post-secondary level
- Experience delivering instruction in an online learning environment is strongly preferred
- Strong technical skills and experience with learning management systems (e.g., Moodle)
- Excellent scholarly, organizational, and communication skills
What You Will Do
- Deliver high-quality online instruction in Older Adult / Gerontological Nursing aligned with RDPN program learning outcomes and BCCN&M regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement evidence-informed instructional materials and engaging learning activities that reflect best practices in nursing education
- Assess and evaluate student learning and provide timely, constructive academic feedback
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
- Participate in faculty orientation, meetings, and required administrative activities
