The apprentice guide dog mobility instructor will complete a comprehensive apprenticeship curriculum to become a certified instructor, focusing on delivering training programs that enhance independence for canadians who are blind or partially sighted through guide dog partnerships. Essential functions include implementing training courses, ensuring appropriate dog-Participant pairings, and training dogs according to established standards.
Candidates must have experience working with and training guide dogs for the visually impaired community, along with experience working with people with disabilities, applying teaching theory to this population. Required qualifications include a guide dog trainer qualification from an igdf accredited organization and a current valid driver's license.
