Part time Teacher (Thuqmin)</p><p>Wage range: $36.64/hour</p><p>Location: Stzuminus Education Society, Ladysmith, BC</p><p>Reporting to: CNC Lead</p><p>Weekly schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (24 hours)</p><p>Hours/Day: 8am – 4pm</p><p>Employment type: School contract – November 2025 to June 2026</p><p><strong>Stz'uminus</strong><strong> Education Society</strong></p><p>We provide learning opportunities for all ages, from infancy through to elder years, through our dynamic and integrated programs: Nutsuumat Lelum, Stz'uminus Primary School, Stz'uminus Community School, Post-Secondary & Continuing Education, Land-based Learning, Year 13/adults, Career Planning and job readiness</p><p><strong>Position summary</strong></p><p>SES is looking for a Part time Teacher to work with us in teaching subjects for our Post secondary and continuing education programs, building relationships with students, families and staff in our community. </p><p><strong>The </strong><strong>position</strong></p><ul><li>Teach lessons as directed by CNC Lead</li><li>Provide teacher on call support as required filling classroom teacher absences on a day-to-day or extended basis.</li><li>Deliver courses/lesson plans to students according to approved curriculum.</li><li>Implement innovative strategies to teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trips and guest speakers as necessary</li><li>Support teachers by working in classrooms with small groups and individual students</li><li>Lead the classroom education team, including education support staff</li><li>Lead and motivate students in activities to promote their physical, mental, and social development, well-being and their school readiness.</li><li>Ensure safety of students and learning environment</li><li>Maintain constant awareness of the needs of students</li><li>Ensure students are actively engaged in their own learning</li></ul> <ul><li>Empower students to be responsible and take action</li><li>Accommodate special needs of students</li><li>Support implementation of Individual Education Plans</li><li>Perform other assigned duties as required</li></ul><p><strong>What you bring</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor of Education </li><li>You are qualified in current good standing with the BC Teacher regulation Branch</li><li>You are a dedicated educator & lifelong learner who leads with relationship and respect</li><li>You are confident with behaviour management and able to care for yourself and others in challenging situations</li><li>You appreciate the variety of relationships and learning opportunities which teaching on call provides</li><li>You recognize that the most impactful learning can happen outside of a conventional classroom</li><li>You are a collaborative team player who respects and values what each member of the community contributes to education</li><li>You are dedicated to incorporating our indigenous Coast Salish culture, hul'q'umi'num language and stz'uminus ways of knowing in your teaching and personal learning journey</li><li>You are passionate about supporting indigenous students to expand their learning.</li><li>Awareness of trauma informed wellness for self and others. </li><li>Able to clear a criminal record check for working with children and vulnerable persons</li></ul><p><br></br></p> <p><strong><i>To explore how we might work together, </i></strong></p><p><i>we invite your application via </i><strong><i>careers@stzuminus.com</i></strong><i> </i></p><p><strong><i>Open until filled</i></strong><i> (only those shortlisted will be contacted for an interview)</i></p>
