Job description

Applications are invited from teachers with BC Certification for the following teaching position: Port Hardy Secondary School, Port Hardy, BC 0.43 FTE Temporary – English First Peoples 10 (two blocks in semester one and one block in semester two) may be combined with JP 31 Commencing: September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: <ul><li>completion of a Bachelor of Education; </li><li>certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch; </li><li>academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level English; </li><li>strong classroom management skills; </li><li>the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies; </li><li>the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning; </li><li>strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills; </li><li>strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and </li><li>ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices. </li></ul><div>This position is eligible for a pre-employment signing bonus of $2,150 in return for a successful candidate accepting a job offer for this position.Note: Candidates are not eligible for the above if they were previously paid a pre-employment hiring incentive for a teaching position in the K-12 sector (in the 2023/2024, 2024/2025 or 2025/2026 school years under the provincial hiring incentives program).</div>The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $66,299 to $116,016, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
