Job description

  • G.S Lakie Middle School - English Language Arts, Social Studies & Physical Education Teacher - Grade 8 Temporary - 1.00FTE The expected start date is August 25, 2026, and is anticipated to complete on June 29, 2027, or will be based upon the return of the incumbent.

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in supporting students, have an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner and will: Have an educational background in English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Physical Education with a strong background in literacy; Have previous experience teaching Middle School (preferred); Be committed to strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills; Have the ability to offer engaging, innovative lessons, and to differentiate to meet diverse learner needs and styles; Have the ability to develop a genuine relationship with students and a willingness to connect with families; Possess a passion and willingness to work with students outside of the classroom in an extra-curricular setting; Have a commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism; Have a commitment to contributing to the school community.
  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Conditions of Employment

    In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide: A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions. A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services. Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire. Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire. Please note that only those selected for further consideration will be contacted regarding an interview.
