Job description

This position has a term length from August 17, 2026 to March 26, 2027.

Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, South Campus, and Campus Saint-Jean, Edmonton.

Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics provides a comprehensive athletics program worthy of one of Canada's leading research-intensive universities. Supporting more than 500 student-athletes across 12 sports and 22 varsity teams, Athletics delivers a high-performance environment focused on excellence in competition, academics, health, and personal development.

The Varsity Health team plays a critical role in the student-athlete experience by providing integrated healthcare services that support athlete well-being, performance, and long-term success. Working alongside coaches, physicians, strength and conditioning staff, and other health professionals, Varsity Health helps student-athletes safely train, compete, and thrive throughout their university careers.

Athletics is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Certified Athletic Therapist or Physiotherapist to join a dynamic high-performance sport environment. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with varsity student-athletes, providing comprehensive injury prevention, emergency response, clinical assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play services across a diverse range of sports.

Reporting to the Manager, Student-Athlete Services, the Varsity Therapist is responsible for delivering front-line clinical care in both sport and clinic settings while exercising independent clinical judgment and contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to athlete health. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting athlete safety, performance, and overall wellness while contributing to the continued success of Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics.

In addition to providing direct clinical services, the Varsity Therapist contributes to injury prevention initiatives, athlete education, integrated care planning, student mentorship, and the ongoing development of Varsity Health services. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student-athletes while working within one of Canada's premier university athletics programs.
