SW 350 – Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice This course unravels the underlying threads of multiple oppressions and the intersection of various sources and forms of oppression. The course will focus on anti-oppressive theoretical perspectives, laws, actions, advocacy, social work ethics and their application to social work practice and policy. The semester class period is from September 1, 2026 – December 22, 2026 and the final exam period is from Dec. 9, 2026 – Dec. 22, 2026. Sessional Lecturers that are teaching remote delivery classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester. Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following: · Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline. · Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines. · Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester. · Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment. · Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students. · Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed. · Other duties as assigned. As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is offered on Wednesday’s 2:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach remote delivery via Zoom (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the Zoom room 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
