Provide safe, supportive short-term placement for children and youth ages 0-19 who cannot live safely with their families. Support the health, wellness, and recovery of youth through trauma-informed care and daily behavioral management.
Requires a diploma in a human/social service field and two years of recent related experience. Candidates must be at least 19 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and pass comprehensive MCFD and Ministry of Justice screenings.

Emergency Care provides safe, supportive short-term placement for children and youth, ages 0-19 years, who cannot live safely with their family, for whom no other care arrangement is readily available and who are under the care of the Director. Children and youth placed in Emergency Care benefit from an environment that supports their health, wellness, culture and recovery, and that of their family.
We are currently looking for Full-Time and Part-Time Residential Child and Youth Workers - Emergency Care home, to join our amazing team! Most positions include weekend shifts. Candidates must be local to Vancouver Island to be considered.

Candidates who are looking to build a safe and supportive temporary placement for children and youth on an emergency needs basis. We need candidates who are flexible, positive, patient, creative, and caring.
Experience working with Children & Youth, ages 0-19. Ability to work as a team and contribute to the plans of care. Excellent communicator both written and verbal. Computer literacy - ability to use multiple technology platforms. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Experience working with at-risk children and youth and/or people who have a mental health diagnosis. Understanding of Trauma Informed Care, and experience providing trauma informed counselling (through behavior management, attachment based, relational, or other appropriate modalities). Experience administering and documenting daily medications. Experience working with suicide prevention and self-harm behaviour. Education in a related field (education, psychology, child and youth care, counselling, health care).
Diploma in a related human/social service field and Two years recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be 19 years or older. The equivalent to minimum of Class 7N Driver's license required. Must obtain and maintain screening through the MCFD and the Ministry of Justice.
