- It is also intended to provide students with a strong introduction to Swahili culture, history and the societies in which the language is spoken.
- Kiswahili is widely spoken in the countries of the African Great Lakes region and Southeast Africa including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is the lingua franca in Kenya and Tanzania.
