• The Institute of Islamic Studies is hiring a course lecturer to teach AFRI 401: Swahili Language and Culture in the Fall 2026 term.
• This course is intended to provide students with a solid foundation in listening, speaking, reading and writing the basic grammatical structures of Kiswahili.
• It is also intended to provide students with a strong introduction to Swahili culture, history and the societies in which the language is spoken.
• Kiswahili is widely spoken in the countries of the African Great Lakes region and Southeast Africa including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is the lingua franca in Kenya and Tanzania.
• Teaching Qualification Requirements: Education Bachelor's degree minimum.
• Experience Solid background and demonstrated experience in teaching Swahili.
