Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA) Job Duties Job Duties 1. Provide one-to-one or group support to students through the following tutoring modes: online, drop-in, appointment-based, or workshop. 2. Provide support to students taking courses related to Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry and Math. 3. Assist students with learning success skills and technologies in both online and/or face-to-face environments. 4. Assist in identification of study resources appropriate to support specific course content and share with students to improve their individual learning habits. 5. Maintain a positive learning environment while assisting students in building their confidence, knowledge, and abilities in their studies. 6. In consultation with Learning Services Instructors, seek any clarification needed from program instructors to meet course expectations. 7. In consultation with the Learning Services and/or program instructor(s), be reflective of and responsive to accommodation of diverse learning needs, including equity groups and English language learners, through the use of appropriate instructional methodologies. 8. Provide support to Learning Services instructors as directed which includes, but is not limited to, recording and maintaining quantitative records; and researching and collecting student friendly support and reference materials. 9. Work cooperatively in an interdependent team environment 10. Participate in mentorship and training sessions. 11. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements. 12. Follow regulations and policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic 13. Must be available to work up to 25 hours a week and be willing to provide flexibility with advanced notice to create a schedule that suits students’ availability. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) 1. Grade 12 and must have completed university level BIOL 110 and 111 (A & P), BIOL 222 (Microbiology) plus Chemistry and Math and/or equivalent combination of experience and education. 2. Minimum of 6 months’ experience in the last 2 years as a tutor in an online and/or in person learning environments. 3. Effective oral and written communication skills. 4. Effective interpersonal skills. 5. Excellent time management and organizational skills. 6. Ability to function independently and as a team member and in an ever-changing environment. 7. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and ability to learn and adapt to evolving technology. 8. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
