Wage Range
The wage range for this position is $23.50 – $26.00 (inclusive of $3 wage enhancement) per hour.

What you will do
As a Direct Support Specialist, you will provide quality person-centered support to youth and adults using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based interventions in the group home under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and Clinical and Operational Manager. You will receive a comprehensive orientation including Advanced CPI Training and ongoing supervision.
- Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
- Supporting clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual’s quality of life
- Assisting and teaching daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being
- Daily documentation and reporting
- Medication Administration (as delegated)
- Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
- Supporting clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.)
- Assisting with household activities and chores
What you will need to be successful
You must have
- A Certificate from a related field such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child and Youth Worker, Degree or Diploma from a Human Services related program. Consideration of Personal Support Worker certificate with relevant experience.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
- Clear Broad Sector Screen dated within the last 3 months
- Clear Criminal record check dated within the last 3 months
- Valid Full Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
- Driver’s Abstract (3-year Uncertified) dated within the last 3 months
- Previous community experience working with youth and adults with developmental disabilities, challenging behavior would be considered an asset
