Job description

Our Workforce Development Team is seeking a part-time temporary Employment Services Officer (Employment Support Facilitator) for 9 weeks (30 hours a week). The Employment Services Officer will help with the delivery of employment services by facilitating workshops, performing administrative tasks that contribute to program operations, and providing one-on-one support to participants; including adult participants who will identify with having a mental health disability.

Please note that this job opening is for Canada Summer Jobs applicants only, who must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with the Employment and Social Development Canada as outlined: between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in facilitating employment workshops on a variety of topics, such as resume writing, interview skills, job search strategies, and workplace readiness.
  • Provide one-on-one support to participants in achieving their employment goals, including reviewing training needed for employment, providing resources and supports, preparing for interviews, and identifying employment opportunities.
  • Record accurate case notes and participant information in our tracking platforms, ensuring timely and organized documentation.
  • Assist with general administrative and organizational tasks, preparing workshop materials, scheduling participants, and supporting daily program operations.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned to support the Workforce Development Department objectives and staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing needs.
  • Comfort with facilitating groups, with the willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, with the ability to create, edit, and manage documents, spreadsheets, and presentations across both platforms.
  • Experience with or ability to learn Salesforce (training provided).
  • Interest in employment services, social services, or related fields is an asset.
