Position

Duties: and Responsibilities:

  • Service delivery
  • Child Care Services – caring for children in a nurturing and safe environment.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise a variety of activities for the children.
  • Interact with the children, taking part in active play activities.
  • Attend to children’s personal needs
  • Safety and maintenance
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children, through supervision of activities.
  • Monitor the childcare spaces and ensure that toys, equipment, and furniture are safe. (Free of sharp edges, stable, non-swallowable sizes).
  • Replace bedding after every use.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the playroom daily.
  • Wash and disinfect toys, tables, and chairs on a regular basis.
  • Administration
  • Maintain child statistics and forms, recording daily the arrival and departure times of the children.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Internal and External Relations
  • Provide verbal reports to all parents (child’s activities/behaviors).
  • Monitor and provide direction for volunteers, students to the program, as required.
  • Administer first aid as needed.
  • Prepare Incident Forms when a child requires first aid.
  • Skills and Qualifications
  • Possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Possess sound communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the Housing First Philosophy.
  • Knowledge of the Trauma Informed Person-centred approach.
  • Knowledge of the Harm-Reduction Philosophy.
  • Knowledge of "Learning Through Play" philosophy.
  • Knowledge of child developmental stages.
