Core responsibilities
The counsellor provides full-Time, permanent support to children and youth (Birth to 17) with mental health challenges or developmental disabilities and their families, delivering core mental health services including assessment, counselling, crisis response, and case management. Duties involve one-On-One and group facilitation, interdisciplinary planning, psycho-Education, safety planning, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
Requirements summary
Candidates must meet educational eligibility for registration with one of the six colleges governed by the psychotherapy act, 2007, such as a social service worker diploma or a bachelor/Master of social work. Essential requirements include proven knowledge of evidence-Based practices for children/Youth, understanding of social determinants of health, knowledge of the ontario child protection system, and a valid ontario driver's licence.
