<p><strong>TITLE
- </strong>EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR - 4 hours </p> <p><strong>DEPARTMENT: </strong>Schools</p> <p><strong>REPORTS TO: </strong>School Principal & Early Learning Coordinator </p> <p><strong>HOURLY
- WAGE:</strong> $28.29 - $29.62 hourly wage effective July 1, 2024<br></br> </p> <div><strong>SUMMARY:</strong></div> <p>The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for organizing, preparing, planning and facilitating early learning programs and initiatives in a play-based environment. The Early Childhood Educator may oversee the day-to-day operations for the StrongStart BC Early Learning programs and/or work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to support early learning initiatives and programs. The Early Childhood Educator ensures that the goals and objectives of the program and initiatives are met using the British Columbia Early Learning Framework and/or StrongStart B.C. Operation Guide as a guideline.<br></br> </p> <p><strong>DUTIES:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure that programs initiatives are developed and maintained in response to the Early Learning Framework and other designated documents (ie. StrongStart BC Operation Guide).</li> <li>Maintain detailed daily program records using designated records program.</li> <li>Produce reports and work plans in cooperation with the district as required.</li> <li>Set up, establish and operate the Early Learning Program and initiatives where designated.</li> <li>Ensure that the activities reflect the stages of child development and fosters healthy learning and guidance of the child and family.</li> <li>Encourages parents to participate in the education of their children and assists in referrals to community services and supports as appropriate.</li> <li>Collaborates with the school to facilitate a smooth transition for families into kindergarten.</li> <li>Works collaboratively with teachers, school staff, Early Childhood Educators and other district staff to support and advocate for play-based early learning programs and initiatives. </li> <li>Attend meetings as required.</li> </ul> REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS <ul> <li>Diploma in Early Childhood Education.</li> <li>Current BC Early Childhood Education certification.</li> <li>FoodSafe certification.</li> <li>Training and/or experience (1 year) working with children in the 0-5 age range.</li> <li>Training and/or experience working with parents/guardians.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and community resources.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to be culturally sensitive; reactive; collaborative and resourceful.</li> <li>Intermediate knowledge of computer programs.</li> <li>Class 5 driver’s license.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality.</li> </ul> <p><strong>TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED (Early Childhood Educator)</strong></p> <p>Common classroom and playground materials/equipment (eg: art supplies, computers, audio visual equipment, sports equipment, etc.)<br></br> </p> <p><strong>PHYSICAL ABILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Sufficient vision and hearing to perform assigned duties independently.</li> <li>Ability to lift, transfer and assist students as required.</li> <li>Manual dexterity.</li> </ul> <p><strong>HOW
