Temporary Assistant Educator (Summer)

• Upper Canada Child Care - “A smile on each child’s face…every day.” We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Assistant Educator to join our Summer Camp located in Newmarket at the following location: Armitage Village PS.
• This position is to fill an existing vacancy.
• Position Length: July 2, 2026 until August 31, 2026 New June 2026 pay rates!
• Pay Range: Assistant: $20.60 - $23.54/hour plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) & Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).
• Position Type & Required Availability: Temporary Full-time Summer Camp Position (25-40 hours/week): Candidates must be available to work an 8-hour shift Monday-Friday to be considered for the months of July & August.

Position Summary

To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, play based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.

Job Responsibilities

• Applies current legislative expectations and professional knowledge to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement. Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc. Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required. Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required. Provides guidance to assistant educators, students and volunteers as needed. Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed. Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development. Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children. Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
