Lead structured and unstructured activities to inspire creativity and teamwork while ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers. Foster an inclusive community and maintain open communication with parents and camp leadership.
Candidates must be committed to safeguarding children and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Successful applicants must undergo vetting procedures, including criminal background checks covering the previous 10 years.
Tasks and Responsibilities: Lead a mix of structured and unstructured activities that inspire creativity, imagination, and teamwork. Adapt activities to suit different ages, interests, and skill levels. Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, including regular headcounts and proper counsellor-to-camper ratios. Foster an inclusive environment where every camper feels valued and supported. Encourage collaboration, cooperation, and a sense of community among campers. Attend to campers’ emotional needs, offering guidance, encouragement, and support as necessary. Address conflicts promptly and promote positive conflict resolution strategies. Assist in planning and executing themed days, special events, and engaging activities. Facilitate exercises that develop teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking. Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding camper progress, safety, and daily experiences. Provide feedback to camp leadership to enhance programming and camper engagement. Participate in pre-camp training and ongoing professional development, staying current on child development, play-based learning, and safety protocols. Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and integrity. Encourage campers to make friends, explore new experiences, and take healthy risks in a safe, supportive environment. ISP Principles Begin with our children and students.
