About the Role
OneHealth Kids is seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Support Worker (PSW) to support a pediatric client with complex developmental and medical needs in the Ottawa area. This role is ideal for someone experienced in pediatric care, developmental disabilities, and hands-on support, who is patient, attentive, and committed to high-quality, family-centered care. About the Client Eden is a young child presenting with a combination of complex diagnoses, including: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Global Developmental Delay Hypotonia (low muscle tone) Macrocephaly She requires consistent, attentive, and skilled support across mobility, feeding, and communication. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 direct support in home and community settings Assist with mobility and positioning (lifting, transfers, physical support) Support feeding and nutrition (liquid diet via straw; monitoring intake) Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) Implement care plans and therapy strategies under supervision Provide constant supervision and safety monitoring Support fine and gross motor activities Use or support alternative communication methods (non-verbal client) Maintain accurate session notes and documentation Collaborate with caregivers and clinical team Required Qualifications PSW certification or relevant experience (DSW, ECE, OTA/PTA also considered) Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities Comfortable providing physical assistance and mobility support Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle (required) Current CPR/First Aid Certification Clear Vulnerable Sector Check Ability to work independently and follow care plans Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with non-verbal clients Knowledge of feeding support and specialized diets Experience with hypotonia or physical disabilities Familiarity with ABA or therapy-based environments Strong observation and communication skills What We’re Looking For Patient, calm, and attentive demeanor Physically capable and comfortable with hands-on care Reliable, punctual, and professional Strong interpersonal skills with families and team members Commitment to ethical, respectful, and client-centered care Work Environment In-home and community-based support Flexible scheduling based on client needs Collaborative care model with clinical oversight Why Join OneHealth Kids Supportive and collaborative team environment Meaningful, impact-driven work Ongoing guidance and supervision Opportunity to build experience in pediatric developmental care
