- What you’ll do (the highlights) Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Recreational Counsellor - Canada Summer Job Assistant is responsible for assisting in the research, planning, development and facilitation of inclusive, community-based leisure and recreational programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- What that looks like: Identify individual needs, abilities, strengths, and interests related to leisure and recreational activities.
- Research, plan, develop, and facilitate community-based leisure and recreational programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Develop and evaluate assessment protocols for ongoing evaluation of activities.
- Enrich recreational experiences for participants and address barriers they face.
- Ensure all activities are safe and align with DASCH’s vision, mission, and values.
- Promote recreational activities through various mediums.
- Encourage participation of all individuals who attend recreational activities Collect, evaluate, and provide statistical reporting.

- Your qualifications: Strong knowledge of intellectual disabilities and experience working in the field is an asset.

- Completed Grade 10 in Canada, or you have achieved Level 6 on the Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment.
- A Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License (Intermediate Stage acceptable).
- Access to a reliable motor vehicle.

- Position 35 hours per week
- Term ends after completion of 280 hours
