We are working diligently towards creating equity for our learners through conscious acts of Reconciliation.</i></strong><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>The School District </strong></p><p>Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suwet'en peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC. </p><p>We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Our region has affordable housing, welcoming communities and a lower cost of living than many other regions. Come and enjoy over 200 lakes, rivers and streams and an abundance of outdoor recreation at your doorstep. </p><p><strong>Qualifications (Online Education Focus) </strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor of Education (Secondary). </li><li>Minimum completion of 3rd and 4th year level university coursework necessary for teaching the senior level curricula that are part of this assignment. </li><li>A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in The Ministry of Education and Childcare. </li><li>Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at senior grade levels. </li><li>Experience in online curriculum development and delivery in accordance with the standards for K-12 online learning in B.C. </li><li>Expertise in the use of educational technologies for teaching and learning, especially course management software and both synchronous and asynchronous online delivery software. </li><li>Able to utilize technology to deliver components of online programs designed for online delivery via learning management systems (Moodle and Brightspace). </li><li>Able to cope with ragged entry and exit for students by providing flexible learning opportunities in the online courses delivered. </li><li>A high degree of technological literacy demonstrating an interest in technology integration. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using online communication platforms (audio, video, email, phone, chat) with parents, students and staff. </li></ul><strong>Teachers applying for this position must possess the following attributes and commit to:</strong> <ul><li>The BC Education Plan and goals of the education system. </li><li>Supporting every child in learning at high levels. </li><li>Work closely with parents/guardian and caregivers and the broader community. </li><li>The Board of Education Strategic Plan. </li><li>Supporting equity, diversity and inclusion. </li><li>Ongoing professional learning for the purpose of strengthening student learning. </li><li>Making evidence-based, collaborative decisions about student learning in a professional learning community environment. </li><li>Supporting Individual Education Plans (IEP) in a collaborative team environment. </li><li>The TRC Calls to Action. </li><li>Integrating Indigenous culture and Ways of Knowing into curriculum and learning activities. </li></ul><strong><i>The district believes that teachers who are interested in providing extracurricular activities contributes significantly to our students' positive school experience. </i></strong><p><strong>Teachers currently employed with the district or on the district's recall list who are interested in this vacancy should email Donna Benson at</strong><a></a><strong>and include the posting number. </strong></p><p><strong>New applicants need to apply to Make a Future - </strong> <strong><i><a></a></i></strong></p><p><a></a><a></a><strong>. </strong></p>
